Several of my friends at our Toastmasters Club have asked me why I like to write so much. I guess for me it is fun, relaxing, and certainly keeps one's brain engaged. When I was writing my first book, it wasn't going to be a novel, but a non-fiction book on public policies and how we can improve the way certain aspects of our government work.
Well after a few starts and restarts, I found it was far more interesting and enjoyable to take these ideas about better government and public policies and integrate them into a novel, with fictional characters, plots and storylines. As you may have guessed, my ideas are identified are conservative, but I believe they're more common sense, out-of-the-box ideas that need to be explored and taken seriously.
Escape From Serfdom was conceived as I created a young conservative, President Donald Burlington, who was not a politician, but a successful businessman. In some respects, this is like the TV series, West Wing, only addressing conservative policies.
I went through a traditional publisher and in October 2014 it was released. The novel got great reviews, as you can see on other pages of the site, but not too long after it was out, the publisher went out of business. For a long time, I didn't take any action, but then started writing again, both novels and more recently screenplays.
My long-term goal is to see one or more of my stories on the big screen, or at least streaming into your home and mine.
Thanks for reading my blog and let's keep in touch.
