Hi there, I'm Richard P. Ley but my friends and family call me Rick and I hope you will do so as well.
I love to write and have written a lot over the years but have come late to publishing my novels. In 2014, my first novel, Escape From Serfdom, was published.
Since then, I've continued the story and turned the second edition of Escape into a six-book series, called The Ship of State.
The final Book in THE SHIP of STATE series - The Prequel has been released and my first non-fiction book, Common Sense Governance was released in September 2024.

I'm a self-professed political geek and have long been interested in finding common sense solutions to our political, economic, and societal problems.
I graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a degree in economics and enjoyed a wonderful business career in the financial services, technology and medical industries. I formed and operated two companies and still do some private consulting, when I'm not writing novels and more recently screenplays.
As a young banker, I got in touch with my local congressman to talk about economic and tax policies. That resulted in me being asked to provide expert testimony before the US House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, where I discussed ideas on changing tax policy to spur private savings and help grow the economy.
I live in suburban Pittsburgh, PA with my wife, Barbara, and two wonderful cats. But enough about me, let's keep in touch so I can get to know you.
